STX Announces 2013 Putting Championship

Golfers to participate in qualifying rounds June 23 -24 and finals June 26

for coveted title of Baltimore’s Best Putter

Baltimore, Md.Baltimore Municipal Golf Corporation (BMGC), also known as Baltimore’s Classic Five, and local golf club manufacturer, STX, will partner for a second year to host the 2013 STX Baltimore Putting Championship. The contest will start with qualifying on Sunday, June 23 and Monday, June 24 at each of the Baltimore’s Classic Five Golf Courses: Pine Ridge, Mount Pleasant, Forest Park, Clifton Park and Carroll Park.

In 2012, STX Golf and Baltimore’s Classic Five announced a partnership through 2014 to host the annual putting contest. STX is acknowledged as being the golf industry’s foremost authority on insert face technology. Over a quarter century ago, the company introduced the first patented soft face insert, creating the “softest legal face in golf.” Following this advancement, the company introduced the first USGA approved interchangeable face insert and removable weight system.  Both these and other innovations have helped create the standards for putter design today. The company takes great pride in supporting the BMGC and their quest to impact juniors from the Baltimore area.

“The company is delighted to be the presenting sponsor for the BMGC annual Baltimore Putting Championship. This partnership provides STX a chance to contribute to the community as well as reach a golfing audience at a grass roots level,” stated Jason Dengler, STX Golf Marketing Manager.

Golfers interested in the STX Baltimore Putting Championship can participate in the qualifying round on Sunday, June 23 or Monday, June 24 at any of the five courses. The Finals will take place on Wednesday, June 26 at Mount Pleasant.  All proceeds benefit the Junior Golf Program at each of the Classic Five Courses.

“We are excited for the opportunity to continue our partnership with a strong local organization dedicated to improving the golf community to host our annual Putting Championship,” said Jon Ladd, BMGC’s Executive Director. “Based on previous years’ success, we know this will be a fun contest that everyone will enjoy. Best of all, we will raise money for our Junior Golf Program, which encourages young golfers to become involved in the game.”
